I've been looking for the right way for me to connect Grok Bot to Claude for a long time. I didn't want to go through computer use, I didn't want to log into my Claude account on its computer, and I'm comfortable working with a terminal inside VS Code.
I wanted a way that doesn't change anything in my setup but lets Grok ask and operate the Claude Code sessions I have. I think I finally found that way, thanks to Uri Eliabayev.
I connected them through Reason Network. In my opinion it's the simplest. And again, in my opinion, there are 100 ways to do this. In the replies people shared a few of the other ways: a webhook plus a private GitHub repo, an MCP connection to T3 Coder, and one agent with long-term memory instead of many connected ones.
What do I use it for?
I have several Grok bots running for growth. One for the site. One for the app. One for a Roblox game I built with the kids. They research features and hand work to Claude Code on the Mac. The bot plans. Claude builds. No copying prompts by hand.
How do I connect Grok Bot to Claude Code?
How to do it on your side too:
- In Claude Code on your computer:
Join the Reason Network: https://reasonmachines.com/network - In Grok Bot: add the MCP
https://mcp.reasonmachines.com/mcp(Bot settings, MCP Servers, Add a custom MCP) and connect to the same network
From there Grok already figures out which session it needs to work with.
Under the hood, Grok Bot calls list_team to see who is on your network and send_message to hand a task to the live Claude Code session, and the reply comes back to Grok. Your computer has to be on with the session open.

If you want this pattern working across a team, it's the kind of thing I set up in AI workshops.
FAQ
Why not just use the Claude CLI?
With computer use you can type into Claude's CLI. That's exactly what I didn't want. I was looking for a way for Grok Bot to talk directly to the live sessions in VS Code, without controlling the screen and without logging into a Claude account on its computer. The CLI alone doesn't give you that; Reason does.
How is this different from giving Claude Code a terminal on my own computer?
The difference isn't in how Claude Code works on the computer. It's still the same session with a terminal inside VS Code. Without Reason I paste prompts by hand. With Reason, Grok Bot sends a task straight to the live session over MCP (no computer use and no opening windows). The answer goes back to it, and I can also trigger it from my phone when the Mac is on and the session is open.
Why run Claude Code locally and not on Grok's computer?
As I understand it (and as Grok understands it), that violates Anthropic's terms of use.
How do Grok and Claude split the work?
My big subscription is with Claude. So it does the coding work and so on. Grok, for now, runs the business from above. It's all still fluid :)
Is Grok any good as a planner?
I think it's amazing at analytics. I connected it to the analytics of my site and my apps and it worked wonders there. It redid the whole onboarding in my app and doubled the retention, and changed things on my site that proved themselves. Mostly it's very accessible and easy to work with, and now if it needs something from Claude, say asking it to record a video of the app doing something, it can just ask directly. It does great competitor research for me on Reddit and comes up with great feature ideas for the app, then talks to Claude about them, and Claude plans and builds. In general it feels to me like it's the best at connecting to the real world. Maybe because it lives on Twitter.
Does Reason Network cost money?
No. Reason Network is free. Your Claude Code work is still billed to your Claude plan, and Grok Bot's messages still count toward your Grok usage. Reason also sells paid cloud sessions, which are a different product: this setup talks to your own Claude Code on your own computer.
Do the messages go through Reason's servers?
Yes. That's maybe the only downside. I wonder if you could ask Grok and Claude to agree on a key between them and encrypt it.
